Delhi University Installs Network Jammers during LLB Entrance Exam 2018
- Delhi University installed network jammers to block mobile and internet signals during DU LLB Entrance Exam 2018.

With a motive to regulate mass cheating and unfair means, the University of Delhi had installed network jammers during DU LLB Entrance Exam 2018. The information regarding the same was kept secret by the authorities until the completion of admission process. The varsity had also provided Response Sheet after the entrance exam so that the admission process would continue without any chaos and hindrance.
DU LLB Entrance Exam 2018 was conducted in 70 sessions in 89 centres across the country. With an objective to ensure the smooth conduction of the exam, the varsity deployed special observers in all the exam centres.
The varsity installed jammers due to many complaints regarding mass cheating in 2017. It had come to the notice of the varsity that students employed a WhatsApp feature to get assistance from outsiders to clear the test. According to sources, DU filed at least eight FIRs on mass cheating during the entrance exam.

Mass Cheating in DU LLB Entrance Exam 2017:
In 2017, mass cheating was evident in DU LLB Entrance Exam. Here is how the mass cheating took place: -
- Aspirants who took coaching for DU LLB Entrance exam joined Whats App groups created to share notes and tips by ‘seniors’.
- The administrator of the group suggested entrance exams could be cleared for a fee of Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1,00,000.
- After the payment of the fee by the students, the administrator deleted the Whats App group.
- Students who had paid the fee to clear entrance test through unfair means were added to a new Whats App group for discussing answers.
- Students were present in the exam hall along with their mobile phones and were directed to ask questions by Whats App group administrator.
- Every student was directed to ask a different question so that all questions can be answered.
- As a result, high scores are achieved.
How Did DU Regulate Mass Cheating in LLB Entrance Exam 2018?
The varsity took following measures to regulate cheating in DU LLB Entrance Exam 2018: -
- The varsity installed low-power jammers to block phone/ internet signals near the exam centre.
- The varsity hiked the number of observers.
- The installation of jammers effectively regulated the mass cheating.
Due to the strict measures, the pass percentage of the DU LLB Entrance Exam went down as the number of students getting admission through unfair means has been filtered out.

The varsity will come with another security feature for 2019 DU LLB Entrance Exam. However, the authorities did not disclose any details about the same.
For DU SOL exams, the varsity has changed the exam centres from government schools to DU Colleges.
