Delhi University Organizes Interactive Session for Young Tibetan Students Eyeing Admission

With Delhi University admissions going on in full swing, there are many for whom seeking admission in DU is a far-fetched dream.

With an objective to clear all the admission-related queries of the Tibetan students, an interactive session was organized at the Delhi University’s North Campus on 25th June. The students were accompanied by the members of an NGO that aims to empower the Tibetan community in India.

The primary problem faced by Tibetan students is that they are less interactive and enjoy staying in their own groups. This interactive session helped them clear their queries and doubts and were counseled before they take admission in DU. The session will help them mingle with other students and encourage them to not feel like an outsider.

Many Tibetan students shared their experience regarding DU admissions during the session. A student, Ugyen Palm who is 19 years old and wants to pursue B.Sc in Physical Science, said that it is her first-time that she will stay in a city like Delhi. She aspires to get admission in a North campus college so that she can stay at the Tibetan hostel located nearby.

According to the records, around 150-200 Tibetan students take admission in DU under the foreign quota every year, comprising of almost 5% seats in all the UG and PG programmes. The students get admission on the basis of merit list which is prepared after multi-level scrutiny of the DU application form. DU administration is very considerate with respect to Tibetan students. They are also exempted from paying the registration fees of Rs.18,000 under the foreign quota.
