On June 24, 2017, a section of law aspirants along with AISA activists staged a protest at the North Campus of Delhi University against the seat cut in LLB course. The aspirants pointed that the varsity was to hold an entrance exam for 2,310 seats. However, the varsity is conducting entrance examination only for 1,440 seats this year. The continuous tussle between Bar Council of India (BCI) and Delhi University is affecting the career of many students. Due to the seat cuts in LLB course, many students might not get admission considering the stiff competition for these seats. The admission process for LLB course was delayed by two months in 2016 due to the arguments between BCI and Delhi University. The same scenario is expected to repeat this year too, an activist said.

Kawalpreet Kaur, President of AISA (DU) mentioned that the varsity had an entire year to improve the infrastructure and the strength of faculty members. She further demanded the Vice-Chancellor of DU to intervene in the issue and allow admission to all 2,310 seats.

Recently, the High Court of Delhi asked BCI to consider DU’s representation for increasing LLB seats. The court also asked BCI to take the decision as early as possible.

One of the law aspirants expressed that the seat cut in LLB course has increased the pressure. The number of students applying for LLB course has been increasing every year, and the government is trying to reduce the seats in big numbers instead of increasing it.

On the other hand, the varsity also announced changes in the test pattern for B.A LLB course. The entrance exam will take place on July 2, 2017.
