Delhi University to Declare the 1st Cutoff List Today

Delhi University will announce its first cut-off list for the academic session 2016?2017 today on June 29. Admissions to various undergraduate courses offered in 63 colleges having about 60,000 seats in DU will be done on the basis of this cutoff list.

Candidates will be able to check cut-off for science, commerce and art programmes. The cut-off will also be displayed at different colleges of the University. Details related to cut-off such as minimum cut-off marks for different courses along with the respective colleges will be mentioned in the list as well.

The cutoff is expected to go higher by 0.5 to 1% this year. Programmes like English Honours that received maximum applications might see a rise of 1 to 2% in this year’s cutoff.

Some principals have stated that the rise is cutoff will be because the number of seats in DU has not been increased. English (Hons) is the most popular programme of DU in 2016, having received 1,15,786 applications this year while the number of seats in the programme is 3,000 seats.

Off-campus and evening colleges will also see a rise in the cutoff 2016. Over the years the demand for off-campus colleges has increased as per the admission statistics.

Admissions in DU will start from June 30. Students can check their results by checking into the admission portal. Shortlisted candidates will have to take a printout of the completed form from the official website, along with the listed documents and self-attested copies and report the designated college on any of the three days of admission.

2016 was the first year of implementation of DU online registration process for the students. DU's online registration process was extended till June 22, 2016.

Although more than 3,50,000 students have applied for admission to DU this year, there has been a dip of 70,000 number of applicants as compared to the number in 2015. Over 3,20,000 students had applied for admissions to Delhi University in 2015.

As per the regional statistics 50% applicants who have applied to DU are from Delhi, 50,246 applicants are from Uttar Pradesh and number of applicants from Haryana are about 21,000. The fifth cut-off is estimated to be announced on July 20.
