Delhi University to Recruit 378 Permanent Teachers
As of now, the University of Delhi has invited online applications for filling 378 assistant professor posts across 41 centres and departments.
The University of Delhi has initiated the recruitment process almost after seven years to fill the vacant teaching positions in various departments of varsity. The varsity has taken the decision as Ministry of Human Resource and Development directed the varsity to fill the vacant posts. Currently, the varsity is seeking applications from the eligible candidates for filling 378 vacant teaching posts. So far, the varsity has been surviving on ad-hoc faculty members. The varsity carried out recruitment process for the teaching posts last in the year 2009.

As of now, the University of Delhi has invited online applications for filling 378 assistant professor posts across 41 centres and departments. Out of 378 posts, 187 are reserved for general category, and 100 posts are reserved for OBC, 55 for SC and 29 for ST. On the other hand, seven posts are reserved for persons with disabilities.

Earlier, Prakash Javadekar, HRD Minister assured that the ministry would initiate the process of filling vacant teaching positions in all the central varsities and major institutions. The ministry is taking all the necessary steps to fill up the vacancies by 2018.
Earlier, the teachers of Delhi University submitted memorandums to HRD Ministry and requested the ministry to fill the vacancies. The teachers association has been protesting against the hiring freeze for a long time. Later, the HRD Ministry clarified that the strength of ad-hoc faculty should not exceed 5% of total faculty strength.
