The demand for deferment of NEET PG 2023 is ongoing. Many students and senior doctors are appealing for exam postponement considering the NEET PG internship eligibility criteria. NEET 2023 exam will be conducted on March 5.
The MBBS candidates across the country are raising their voices for the postponement of the NEET PG 2023 exam. The objective of such deferment demand is for revising the eligibility criteria of the NEET PG exam so that more candidates can appear for the entrance exam. NEET PG 2023 is the last test for admission to PG medical courses. In the next year, it is expected to be replaced by the National Exit Test (NEXT). This is the main reason why medical students, senior doctors, and parents want to force the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to postpone the NEET PG exam till May 2023. This year, the NEET PG exam is scheduled to be held on March 5, 2023. As per the guidelines published by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), the applicants should complete a one-year internship by July 2023. Nevertheless, there are approximately 10,000 MBBS students from different states (including Bihar, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, etc) who will complete their internships by August 2023. Those students will be ineligible for NEET PG 2023 if the exam will take place on the said date.
As per the senior doctors, the MBBS interns of these states also deserve a chance of attempting the NEET PG 2023 exam. According to the President of the Telangana Junior Doctors Association, Dr. Karthik Nagula, the internship of the Telangana MBBS students will be completed by August. Dr. Nagula states that these medical students are highly talented and have the potential to crack the NEET PG exam in one go. He asks, why rob an opportunity for such aspiring MBBS students?
In favour of such deferment, in the last few weeks, the local and the national wings of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), junior doctors, and individual MBBS doctors have also submitted memorandums to the Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya.
