Deputy CM of Delhi Manish Sisodia Inaugurates Karampura Campus of AUD

The Karampura campus, located at West Delhi, of the Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) has been inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia recently.

The academic session of AUD is going to start from August 1 and the university is planning to start undergraduate courses in four subjects from the Karampura campus from this year. These news subjects are History, English, Humanities and Social Sciences and Economics.

While speaking at the event Sisodia, who is also in charge of the education department of Delhi Government said that every student who completes Class XII in Delhi should manage to secure a seat in a college or a university and it was the collective responsibility of principals, VCs, and education officials to ensure that.

Sisodia also said that there is a fear amongst the students and parents that if they don't score 98-99 per cent in class XII exam they will not get admission in college and this has to be eradicated.

"Every year in Delhi, 2.5 lakh students complete Class XII and we only have seats for about 1.35 lakh. For the rest of 1.15 lakh students, it is not only me just but also vice-chancellors, principals and other officials working for higher education that is responsible for the academic future of the students," the minister said.

Sisodia also stressed on the quality of education and exhorted to take institutions to new heights so that every student who passes out from there is respected by other reputed international institutions. The minister appealed not only to maintain the quality of education but also concentrate on the quantity. So that there should be enough seats for each of the 2.5 lakh student and parents never get a chance to complain about.

The university is also going to expand its campus further, the Vice-Chancellor of the University Shyam Menon disclosed. He also said that very soon a Centre for Professional and Continuing Education, a Centre for English Language Teaching and a School of Vocational Studies will be established.
