Dera Verdict: Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) Exams Postponed
- The Dera Verdict case, because of its sensitivity, has forced the premier medical university in Punjab to postpone its exams scheduled for 25th August.
- Revised dates for all the rescheduled exams will be announced soon.
With the Dera Verdict scheduled for 25th August, the administration of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences or BFUHS has postponed the examinations that were scheduled to take place on August 25, 2017, i.e., Friday. It is of the opinion that the students may have to face stress and tension while reaching the college and with a curfew and red alert issued in the surrounding areas of Punjab and Haryana, nothing can be predicted. A large number of students travel from other cities to the University to appear for the examinations. The varsity has also published an official notice regarding the same on its official website.
According to sources, the varsity has postponed five theory examinations including B.Sc Nursing, Master in Physiotherapy, Bachelor of Physiotherapy, B.Pharmacy and post-basic nursing. The varsity has confirmed that the B.Pharmacy examination will take place on August 31, 2017, and the dates for other four examinations will be announced soon.

Also, with an objective to regulate the usage of paper, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences has decided to issue digital degrees or certificates to the students. All the digital certificates or degrees of the students will be preserved under National Academic Depository or NAD. The varsity has constituted a special cell for this purpose, the services of which will be available free of cost for a couple of years.
