The DHSK College Dibrugarh has instituted the Dr Lakhi Prasad Dutta Memorial Award for the best Arts graduate. Dibrugarh Hanumanbux Surajmal Kanoi College, one of the most prestigious educational institutions of upper Assam, offers various arts, science and commerce courses. The DHSK College, originally named the Dibrugarh College way back in 15th June, 1945, later on came to be renamed after its donors as Dibrugarh Hanumanbax Surajmall Kanoi College in 1957.
The College received an amount of Rs 1.5 Lakh from the family members of Dr. Lakhi Prasad Dutta, one of the founder Principals and a renowned educationist. It is proposed that the award will be kept safe as a fixed deposit and the interest will be presented as Lakhi Prasad Dutta Memorial Award to the best arts graduate of DHSK College every year, the principal of college Dr. Sashikanta Saikia informed.
The amount was handed over to the college by Lekha Dutta, daughter of Dr. LP Dutta, on behalf of Dr. Lakhi Prasad Dutta’s family during a meeting recently. The meeting was attended by Vice-Principal (Academic) Kalpana Sengupta Baruah, Dr. LP Dutta’s son-in-law, Amales Dutta and daughter-in-law Rup Nanda.
Along with this, it was also proposed that the Lakhi Prasad Memorial Lecture will be held on September 2 next, wherein renowned educationist Dr. Amar Jyoti Chowdhary and Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Dr. Alok Kumar Buragohain will be present.
