<p>It was the state of Bihar first to come with the idea of naming Kishanganj Agriculture University College after the name of late President APJ Abdul Kalam.
Accordingly the Bihar cabinet, approved a proposal to name Kishanganj Agriculture College and also proposed to name science city in Patna after Kalam. This decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, reveals a high official of the Government.
While Assam government has decided to set up an 'APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Innovation soon in the state. While announcing the move on the part of the state government chief minister Tarun Gogoi said, “the proposed Centre would come up soon and would help engage the young minds of the state and Northeast as a whole in entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity thus helping to transform the lives of the common man and bringing smiles on their faces.”
Tamil Nadu government is also not lagging behind, the state where kalam was born and brought up. The government has announced that an award would be constituted in the name of former President A P J Abdul Kalam and his birthday would be observed as "Youth Renaissance Day.” While disclosing this Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said she had issued directions to constitute the 'Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Award' for persons who strive towards promoting scientific growth, humanities and students' welfare and the award would be given away during Independence Day every year.
The award will carry an 8 gram gold medal, Rs 5 lakh in cash and a citation and would be presented to a person hailing from the state every year, she said.
