Difficulty Level of AIIMS MBBS Exam 2018 cannot be Diluted: Supreme Court
- The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition of students regarding the AIIMS MBBS Exam in off-line mode.
- The apex court stated that the standard of the AIIMS entrance exam will not be diluted and the difficulty level will be same.
After hearing the petition filed by medical aspirants, the Supreme Court has stated that the standard of the AIIMS Exam for undergraduate medical courses will not the diluted. The SC also turned down the request to remove the online MBBS under-graduate entrance test 2018.
Not too long ago, few students had challenged the AIIMS online entrance test that is mandatory for admission to the MBBS courses offered by the premier institute. The exam will be held in two shifts for both the exam days i.e. May 26 and 27, 2018. The rest will depend on the number of students taking the exam.
A SC bench of justices U U Lalit and Arun Mishra said that after considering the difficulties and vulnerability of conducting an off-line exam, the court has decided to dismiss the petition filed by students. The students sought that the exam be held in off-line mode instead of online mode. The SC stated that the standard of the AIIMS exam cannot be diluted and that the organizing body should be given the room to maintain standards of the exam.

Advocate Dushyant Parashar, who represented AIIMS, stated that the difficulty level of the AIIMS Exam in all four exam shifts for the two exam days will be same. The same has been certified by experts and it has also been iterated that the percentile marking system is the best to evaluate the candidate. Advocate Parashar also said that a total of 4.5 lakh students will be taking AIIMS MBBS Exam in 2018. He also submitted a confidential report prepared by the experienced authority.
On the other hand, the counsel for petitioner Sneha Chandra Shekhar Fule and others students contended that AIIMS exam in online mode will have different difficulty levels for the four shifts. The percentile system of evaluation was also challenged and was called opaque. The counsel also added that the exam is crucial for admission to the 807 MBBS seats offered by AIIMS.

The Supreme Court had also asked AIIMs whether it was possible to conduct the exam in one go. The Court also asked Parashar to give a response regarding the vulnerability issues if the AIIMS MBBS exam is conducted through offline system.
