Digital India Workshop organized by National Service Scheme (NSS) at Rohtak

The Digital India Mission is a visionary programme to transform India into a digital empowered society and knowledge economy. The Indian Youth, especially the students must utilize their talent and potential to connect with Information Technology (I.T.) to make the India of tomorrow. This was stated by Vice-Chancellor of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) Prof. Bijender K Punia in his inaugural address in the Digital India Workshop organized by National Service Scheme (NSS) office here today.

MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Bijender K Punia said that E-governance has facilitated governance process, and is benefitting the citizens of the nation. He urged upon the NSS volunteers to join the Digital India mission as a part of nation-building commitment. Vice Chancellor Prof. Punia also asked the NSS volunteers to work for building a socially harmonious society. He also urged upon the NSS volunteers to not use unfair means in examination.

Earlier, NSS Programme Co-ordinator Dr. Ranbir Singh Gulia welcomed the Vice -Chancellor, and the invited Speakers. Dr. Gulia said that the workshop is being organized to enhance awareness about Digital India, and to train NSS volunteers about the Digital India mission.

Consultant, National E-Governance Division, Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, Govt. of India Manjit Nath, speaking as the resource person in the workshop focused on the initiative taken by Govt. of India to achieve the target of Digital India. He said that vision of Digital India is centred on three key areas- Digital Infrastructure as a utility to every citizen, Governance & Services on demand, and Digital empowerment of citizens. He gave a detailed briefing about the various facets of Digital India. Vishal Dhingra, Content Manager (Social Media), National E-Governance Division informed about the various social media platforms of Digital India.

Later on, NSS teams from various affiliated colleges of MDU staged skits focusing on the Digital India Mission. NSS volunteers from 30 colleges took part in this One Day Workshop.
