The festivities start on Navratri and end on Diwali and with that ends the holiday season for kids all over the country. Since they majorly stay at home during this season, what can be better than spending some quality time with them? How? Well, you can always have fun with kids and make them learn something new at the same time. This article consists of 10 fun activities for kids which can also be executed by adults.

10 Fun Diwali Activities for Kids for Diwali 2022

Here are a few of the most entertaining activities for kids-

Make a Paper Lantern

Since Diwali is a festival of light, it makes total sense to make a paper lantern with kids. If you want kids to engage in something fun as well as creative (everything in this list is creative) then you should definitely give this a try. A lot of tutorials are available on YouTube to choose from.

Rangoli Making

Rangoli is usually made from coloured powder, but people use various paints to draw them these days. It's a great way to decorate the floors of your house during this festive season and obviously to bond with your little ones.

Painting Diyas

During the festive season, we usually buy painted diyas to decorate our homes but why not do something different this year? Buy a good old plain Diya and ask kids at your home to paint it. It's really fun to see how their creative mind can make great colour combinations.

Diwali-Inspired Artefacts and Origami

Some fun artefacts can be made using origami, which is an intricate art form. It's great for your children to be able to unleash their creativity through such a Diwali activity.

Jewellery Making

As kids get to wear the jewellery they make, jewellery-making is a fun Diwali activity for them. If you want to learn with your child how to make jewellery out of paper and beads, you can either do it with them in person or indulge in an online video session by YouTube-ing jewellery making and teaching them along the way.

Decorate Your House Together

Everybody decorates their house during Diwali. This season, you can take help from kids, and indulge them with something fun and harmless. Maybe ask them to decorate the house with paper and flowers.

Diwali Story Time

Reading stories to kids is the best way to bond with them. This year, read books that can help them understand the meaning of "Diwali" and why we celebrate it. This will increase their knowledge and gain interest in our culture.

Make a Garland

We all use garland for our walls during the festive season. Ask your kids to make one with paper, flowers, or even clay.

DIY Cards

Kids love to make cards. Allow them to unleash their creativity by providing them with all sorts of paints and glitters and obviously some cards to draw on. Ask them to make it "Diwali" themed with lots of diyas and colours.

Making Food/ Sweets

Every household makes special food and sweets during Diwali. Involve your kids in it too and allow them to help you with some simple things like mixing dry ingredients.
