Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE Awards 2016 Bagged by 2 KISS Students
Two students from Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) won the prestigious Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE 2016 Awards.
Here is a good news for Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) and a reason for celebration as two students from the institute made a big achievement at the national level while winning the prestigious Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE 2016 Awards.
Dhanurjaya Dehury and Kutruka are the two students among the 30 winners out of the 59,400 ideas & projects received by National Innovation Foundation-India (NIF). NIF functions under the Department of Science and Technology and is an autonomous body. It declared the Annual Awards on 15th October on the occasion of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s birthday. The day is also celebrated as the Children’s Creativity and Innovation Day.

Both the students studying in class 8th were selected for the awards for their respective innovation. Dhanurjaya Dehury, who hails from a locality in Sundargarh district was selected for 'Pedal Operated Vegetable Cutting Machine', while Kutruka who hails from Bissam Cuttack of Rayagada district bagged the award for her innovative project named 'Machine to Dig Out Sweet Potato'. Both the students will receive the award from the hands of Shri Pranab Mukherjee, President of India, at Rashtrapati Bhawan on 7th November 2016.
They will leave for Delhi on 5th November, accompanied by Sushanta Kumar Swain, Headmaster, KISS and Dr. P. K Das, Director of KISS.

Founder of KIIT & KISS Dr. Achyuta Samanta, while expressing his happiness on the success of the both the students said that tribal students are second to none provided they are given proper care and quality education. It is a great achievement not only for Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences but for the entire tribal community as these two students have shown their talent at a national level. He also congratulated both the students and their parents and guide teachers for achieved success.
