University of Agricultural Sciences-Bengaluru (UAS-B) will host it'’ 50th convocation ceremony on 30th April'16 i.e. Saturday and renowned space scientist and former ISRO chairman Dr. K. Kasturirangan will address the ceremony.
Governor Vajubhai Vala and Minister of State for Agriculture Krishna Byre Gowda will also participate in the convocation ceremony.
In the present academic year, UAS-B had admitted 661 students for degree courses, 267 students for post-graduate courses and 108 students for doctoral degree courses, besides 52 students for diploma courses. He said that the university has awarded degrees to about 35,000 candidates since its inception in 1964.
UAS-B Director of Education Dr. D.P. Kumar listed the achievements of the university and said that "the university stands second among all the agriculture universities in the country in terms of the number of students who have cleared the junior research fellowship programmes — which was an indication of educational excellence".
Similarly, University of Agricultural Sciences-Bengaluru’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) at Tubagere in Doddaballapura taluk, had received the award for being the country’s best KVK, Mr. Kumar added.
Details of the convocation ceremony:
- 922 students would receive various degrees during the golden jubilee convocation of the varsity
- 584 bachelor’s degrees
- 245 Master's degrees
- 93 doctoral degrees.
- 114 gold medals would also be awarded to meritorious students
