Delhi University has released certain guidelines for including subjects from other state boards for the calculation of cutoff marks. This decision has been taken after DU noticed that a large number of applications were received from the students of the Kerala state board.

DU began the DU 2021 admission against the DU First Cutoff on October 4. The second cutoff 2021 for DU will be released on October 9, 2021. There is an equivalence committee that decides what subjects from other state boards are similar to CBSE subjects and if they will be included while calculating the cutoff score - the average of best of four marks.

Rajeev Gupta, Chairman, Admissions at the university, said that if the committee says a subject is not equivalent, it will not be included in Best of Four. A meeting was held on Oct 5 with colleges regarding this and a list was shared with them. He also said that CBSE started Applied Mathematics as a subject to help students who were not so well-versed with the subject so it is easier than Mathematics. CBSE also mentioned that students of Applied Mathematics will not be eligible for Chemistry (Hons), Physics (Hons), and Mathematics (Hons). They won't be considered for Economics (Hons) as that requires a difficult level of Math but can be considered for B.Com.

Factors such as syllabus, theory, and practical components are taken into account while making a decision regarding the equivalence.
