DU Admissions 2017: Counselling Sessions Begin at North Campus
- With apprehensions and confusions in mind, students gathered to get clarity on queries related to the admission cycle for the current academic year of 2017-18.
- The questions were based on functions of online admission portals, eligibility criteria, reservation rules etc.
Leading and the most sought after university of the country, Delhi University began its 10-day counselling sessions, also known as ‘Open Days’ on 22nd May, 2017. On the first day itself, there were about 600 students who were seen at the North Campus of the University. With their apprehensions and confusions in mind, they were there to get clarity on their queries related to the admission cycle for the current academic year of 2017-18.
The questions these students had in mind mainly revolved around the following:
- Functionality of online admission portals
- Basic eligibility criteria
- Reservation related criteria for a student to be considered for it
- Relaxation of marks and percentage
- Information on the various courses offered by the University
- Newly introduced courses and programmes this academic year
Mr. Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, who is the Deputy Dean of Student’s Welfare at DU revealed that despite no declaration of CBSE results yet, the response to the Open Day on the first day itself was very good.

As per schedule, two sessions were conducted between 10 am and 1:30 pm. Each session saw the participation of at least 50-60 candidates who were given one on one counselling to seek clarification of their doubts.
The Open Day sessions are expected to continue for a total of 10 days until 31st May. Candidates interested in the same can visit the Conference Centre at Gate No. 4 at the North Campus in this duration and dates.

The Dean further added that it is estimated that as the days pass, there will be more queries that will come in with respect to the admission season.
Year after year, DU conducts the 'Open Days' before the admission process kicks in wherein students, as well as parents, are invited to get answers to their queries directly from the DU staff and faculty.
