DU to Begin Academic Session UG Courses 2019-20, Takes Measures to Prevent Ragging

The University of Delhi will commence the academic session 2019-20 for UG (Under Graduate) courses soon. With a motive to prevent the ragging on the campus, the varsity has issued a notice that comprises of detailed guidelines followed by students to report instances of ragging on the campus. The varsity has formulated a list of measures to prohibit ragging, eve-teasing and other prohibited activities on the campus.

Measures Taken by DU to Prohibit Ragging on the Campus:

During the admissions, the University of Delhi has asked the guardians of all the students to submit an undertaking that their wards will not involve/ indulge in such activities. The varsity has also set up two Joint Control Rooms in South and North campus of the varsity. Disciplinary and anti-ragging committees are constituted at DU colleges to prevent ragging. The colleges will also display the rules regarding prohibition of ragging on notice boards.

Measures Taken by DU to Ensure Women’s Safety:

The University of Delhi has collaborated with Delhi Police to ensure maximum safety for women on the campus. Women police ‘in plain clothes’ will be present in and around the colleges to check instance of ragging and eve-teasing on the campus. Women police trained in martial arts will be present at the sensitive points of the DU campus.

Apart from the above measures, the varsity indicated that outsiders are not allowed to enter into the campus, paste sensitive posters on walls in the surroundings of DU campuses. The varsity has also prohibited any sort of graffiti within the campus.

Steps to File a Complaint on Ragging:

If students find any issues or instance of ragging prevailing on the campus, they can follow the below mentioned steps to report to higher authorities: -

  • Students can drop a written complaint in the complaint box of the respective college.

  • Students can also report to National Anti-Ragging helpline number 1800 180 5522.
  • Students can also contact Joint Control Rooms at North and South campuses.
  • Students can call 100 to report to nearest PCR van.
