The Dean of Law Faculty issued a showcause notice to the students and sought explanation on why a disciplinary action should not be initiated against them.

All 70 students of first-year law course had been detained by the varsity, as they did not have required attendance prescribed by the varsity. Therefore, the varsity did not allow these students to appear for the examinations. On May 19, 2017, the detained students created a disturbance near the examination hall.
