Efforts are being made to make the Delhi University's examination system more efficient. The university is planning to revamp the system and has put forward three set of drafts that propose the changes that need to be made for entrance tests, semester-end exams as well as exams for the Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board and School of Open Learning (SOL).

According to the proposals, entrance tests must be conducted in March-April, SOL must be allowed to conduct its own exams, more advanced technology should be used to make the system more flexible and evaluations should be done online.

These modifications have been suggested keeping the students’ and teachers’ requirements in mind. The examination branch has also agreed to implement these changes. The university will go through the proposed drafts over the next couple of weeks and will give its nod in a month’s time.

Vinay Gupta, Dean of Examinations said that DU is planning to implement these changes before the beginning of the session 2017-2018. Stating the reason behind making these changes, he said that with the introduction of semesters in 2009-10, the burden on the examination branch has increased tremendously.

Many other elemental changes have also been made over the years including the change in the process of identifying answer scripts. DU has restored the use of random numbers to identify the answer sheets whereas earlier the answer sheets used to have student roll number and the invigilator's name written directly on the answer scripts. This was a loophole as it revealed the college information.
