Seats in Popular DU Colleges Filling Fast, Expected to Close with 2nd List
Breaking the trend of the past few years where admissions remain slow on the first day, several top DU colleges witnessed heavy traffic this year. Despite 99 per cent cutoff for Political Science in Hindu College 72% seats are already filled.
Delhi University witnessed a large number of students applying for various courses on the first day itself. Seats in most of the popular colleges of the university with high cut-off filled up fast, implying that the second cut-off list will only see a marginal drop.
According to the reports, 72 per cent seats in Hindu College, for Political Science course have already been filled despite 99% cutoff for the same. The college has received maximum admissions in its B.A. (Hons) Political Science programme with all general and OBC seats already taken. The cut-off for the political science programme is 99% for general category candidates.

Anju Srivastava, Principal of Hindu College, said that they are witnessing a massive rush for admissions. The college has received over-admissions in courses like Statistics (Hons). She also said that the total number of seats might go up as well.
Kirori Mal College saw 368 admissions on Day1 with 128 seats in Political Science and 55 in History. These were among the most popular courses. Sunil Singh, Admission Committee Convenor at KMC, informed that the number is very high for the first day. The number is usually in double digits. He further informed that most of the admissions were of students from CBSE boards.
Ramjas College saw around 300 admissions, compared to 125 last year. “Political Science and BA Programme are the most popular courses till now,” said principal Manoj Khanna.

However, there are various colleges which will be open for admissions in the second list as well due to fewer admissions. Shyam Lal College, Principal, Rabi Narayan Kar, said that the college will continue till second or third list. Aryabhatta College also offers a total of 610 seats, out of which only 110 seats are taken till now.
