Delhi University introduced the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in its curriculum for regular college since the 2015 academic year. DU's School of Open Learning has also decided to join the league and from the upcoming academic session, the same will be applicable for it as well. DU's Executive Council made the announcement regarding the same.

The new Choice Based Credit System will be applicable to over 5 lakh students enrolled in DU's School of Open Learning. According to the reports, The Non- Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB) will also be a part of the Choice Based Credit System. The revised curriculum of both undergraduate and postgraduate course will be applicable for both the School of Open Learning (SOL) and Non- Collegiate Women Education Board from the upcoming academic session 2019-20. Also, the examination scheme for ug and pg will be applicable to both NCWEB and SOL.

For SOL coming under CBCS means a shift from annual to semester. Under the CBCS pattern, students have to opt for elective and core courses and for self-enhancement courses on the basis fo it, students get credits. Through the CBCS system, students get grades rather than marks. The CBCS system follows semester-wise grading and until now SOL was following the annual mode for undergraduate examination. The DU SOL examination pattern remains unchanged by the various changes brought by the varsity to its undergraduate course. Whether it was the semester system which was introduced in 2010 or the FYUP introduced in the year 2013.
