DU: Students’ Attendance to be Tracked using Mobile App

After implementing calculated changes in the admission process, the University of Delhi is planning to introduce an enhanced mechanism for marking and tracking students’ attendance. DU will soon be introducing an online attendance marking system by launching a mobile app for the purpose.

The University aims to maintain accountability and enhance transparency in the attendance system. A seven-member committee founded in 2016 has been working to develop the mobile application.

According to a senior DU official, work related to this project has been in progress since the last six months. He also added that the app is expected to be launched in a month’s time. The app will help the teachers to effortlessly keep a record of students’ attendance. Students with less than required attendance percentage will be informed accordingly.

Currently, attendance at various DU colleges including Hindu College, Miranda House, IP College for Women, Zakir Hussain College, etc. is recorded manually on attendance registers. This record is updated on the websites on a monthly basis.

With the help of the new app, teachers will be able to update the attendance on a daily basis. This will also help the students to keep a track of their attendance as it plays a vital role during the issuance of admit cards for the semester or yearly exams.

The app will serve as a centralized process of recording attendance for all the departments of the 68 colleges affiliated to the University of Delhi.
