Unlike the last year when Delhi University came out with nine or even 10 cutoff lists to fill seats in various colleges this time The University is coming out with only five cut-off lists.

The aim of the move is to reduce admissions hassle and it will give the colleges to impose additional eligibility criteria after their fifth cutoff list. Students will need to approach individual colleges after they have applied through online registration that can come out with additional cutoff lists if they have vacant seats.

After the first five cutoff lists, colleges will also be allowed to impose certain criteria for admissions. If more than two students meet the cutoff and criteria imposed, then the class 10th score of the students will be considered for admission.

While giving the information a member fo the admission committe said “We have decided to only come out with five cutoff lists as to limit over admission. Since most of the colleges fill their seats in various courses by the fifth list and If there are any seats left in any course after that then the college will come out with its own cutoff list. The students will have to apply at the individual college once again.”

A 24-member admission committee comprising academic, principals and university representatives, executive council members, has recommended a set of rules for admissions this year. These recommendations have been sent to DU vice-chancellor Yogesh Tyagi for his perusal and final approval.

“ But before imposing it on students for admission the colleges will have to get the criteria approved by the university. Only those students who have filled centralized online admission form will be considered for the admission abd no fresh registration will be done,” said another member of the committee.

DU is also likely to reduce the concession, given to female students, in the cutoffs to only one percentage point for admission to undergraduate courses.

Some colleges earlier used to offer around 1 to 5 percentage points relaxation in cutoffs for female applicants. Right now 22 colleges have been allowed to offer the relaxation but only of 1 percentage point for some courses on request.

For around 54,000 undergraduate seats the online registration will start from May 28 and will come to an end on 16th June.

Applicants for sports and extra curriculum activity will also have to fill the centralised online form from this year unlike earlier when they had to apply to individual colleges.
