The university took the decision to resolve the protest over the failure of more than 50% law faculty students in the second year exams. The students will be able to continue their course as regular third-year students but they are required to clear their backlog.

This decision was also made considering the change in the university curriculum as the university has adopted the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in 2015. The current second-year students have been subjected to CBCS according to which subjects are segregated into credit hours and marks have been replaced by grades.

However, the students who will be promoted to the third year are part of the previously implemented three-year programme. If these students are not promoted to the third year then they will be a part of CBCS.

In order to enable students to study interdisciplinary subjects, the HRD ministry had introduced the CBCS. It also allows the students to get a transfer from one college to other on the basis of the transfer credits earned by them.

Students will have to undergo a lot of pressure as they will have to clear both second and third-year papers in the duration of one year or else they will not be given the degrees.
