DUSU Sets Up Gender Sensitisation Cell at Delhi University
- The Gender Sensitisation Cell at Delhi University plays an important role in representing students who were subjected to harassment and discrimination.

On January 15, 2018, DUSU (Delhi University Students’ Union) set up the Gender Sensitisation Cell at the University of Delhi with an aim to address issues pertaining to gender discrimination on the campus. The cell plays an overridden role in representing students who were subjected to harassment and discrimination. The cell will provide advice and legal aid to those students and solve their issues.
The Gender Sensitisation Cell will organise awareness sessions to create a safe and healthy environment on the premises of the varsity for all genders, specifically women and transgenders. DUSU President will act as the Chairperson of the cell. The cell will also have a convenor and two co-convenors.

Convenor of DUSU, Narayani Anand pointed that transgender and women students make up an obligatory part of the University of Delhi. Any issues related to gender discrimination and sexual harassment on the premises of Delhi University will be taken seriously, and the violators will be subjected to severe punishment.
UGC has also been urging the universities across the country to take up anti-ragging campaigns on their respective campuses. Recently, a report revealed that the prevalence of ragging in higher educational institutes is high. Practically, many issues pertaining to ragging came into the limelight and higher learning institutes are acting strictly against the menace.

DUSU’s initiative is appreciable and path-breaking. Indian institutes with 0% gender discrimination will play a vital role in empowering the girls to take up higher studies up to the Ph.D. level.
