Dyal Singh College Asks for Feedback on Teacher's Performance
Dyal Singh College asks students to give feedback on teachers performance.
With a motive to improve academic performance , students will now be giving their feedback on the performance of their teachers in classrooms in a Delhi University college.
After the Governing Body (GB) of Dyal Singh College decided to take feedback from students regarding the performance of the teachers, a committee has been to prepare a method of taking feedback.
I S Bakshi, Principal, Dyal Singh College, said a proforma will be drafted regarding the collection of feedback from students about the conduct of classes, tutorials, and practicals.
Principal, three members of the governing body and a teacher representative will be working under the committee.
This decision has not been welcomed by the teachers and many have opposed of the same.
Physics teacher, Naveen Gaur said that this move is flawed as it is likely to be biased. The feedbacks provided by the students could be affected by caste, gender, class and other factors. She also provided a solution and said that the feedback should be under the college authorities.
Another teacher pointed out that by this method, students can blackmail their teachers and ask for attendance or marks in return for a better feedback.
However, Bakshi said that this move will help in improving the academic atmosphere of the college and students will give feedback on the performance of the teachers, anonymously.
He also said that this move will further help to keep a check on whether teachers are doing justice to their allotted time table and schedule as this was also one of the concerns of the GB.
