As per the MCI Regulations regarding Graduate Medical Education, 1997, the first academic session of MBBS students must proceed from August 1. According to the recent notifications that were released in January 2016, MCI also made it necessary for medical colleges that the last student cannot be admitted after August 31.

Member of MCI, Dr. K Ramesh Reddy, said that if a college fails to comply with the schedule and deadlines declared by MCI, especially the August 31 deadline, then college will have to face dire consequences as MCI has the authority to declare an entire batch of medicos as illegitimate.

Apart from this, MCI had announced specific dates by which the first and second round of counselling for admissions to the MBBS courses were supposed to be organized. However, Telangana government has bypassed these dates because of the skepticism that had clutched the NEET exam.
