A digital university will be set up in India under the Education Budget of 2022. The university will include different Indian languages as its medium of instruction and it will collaborate with the top institutions of the country.
In her budget speech today, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman revealed that a digital university will be set up in India soon. She said that the primary objective of establishing this university is to ensure that each student has access to world-class education. The digital university will be set up as per ISTE standards and through it, students will be able to access quality education at their doorstep.
The medium of instruction of this university will comprise several Indian languages and students will be able to study the content in the language of their preference. Additionally, this digital university will be built on a network hub and spoke model and many leading public universities and institutions will collaborate with it.
The Finance Minister gave some details of this new venture and stated that its establishment will enable students across the country to get quality education of the global level. It will be a personalised learning experience that will be accessible with utmost ease.
Apart from informing the nation of the Digital University, the Finance Minister also added that the 'One Class, One TV Channel' programme under the PM e-Vidya scheme will be expanded from 12 to 200 TV channels. She acknowledged that students have lost almost two years of formal education due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and increasing the channels will help states in providing supplementary education in regional languages for the students of classes 1 to 12.
