The government of Orissa is figuring out possibilities to conduct engineering admissions in a way that is being carried by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). With an objective to improve the procedure of engineering admissions, the state government has taken this decision.

Currently, the government is working on a proposal to optimise admissions to Government engineering colleges across the state. The motive of the government is to give a chance to financially weaker and meritorious students to study in these colleges.

According to the proposed system, the students have to deposit a sum of Rs. 30,000 as a part-payment admission fee to Orissa JEE conducting body. Here, the students need not pay the fee to the colleges initially. The system will help the students to remain or opt out of the system.

As per the earlier process that the state government used to practice for engineering admissions, students need to visit the nodal centres for the verification of certificates and counselling. Later, seat allotment process takes place, and the student has to decide his/her college.

As per the proposed system, OJEE will make a temporary allotment initially. Candidates who secured a temporary allotment have to participate in the counselling and pay part-payment of the admission fee. The fee remains with OJEE until the completion of the third phase counselling. Students need to pay rest of the fee to the colleges and get their names enrolled. The system allows the students to make changes in the options during the three phases of the admission process. A student who decides to opt out from the admission process, their fee will be refunded.
