Engineering Counselling in Tamil Nadu to be Conducted by DTE
Without the participation of Anna University, a huge amount of confusion has been created with respect to the counselling process for engineering courses in Tamil Nadu.
A Tamil Nadu council of engineering courses is all set to conduct counselling for admissions in engineering courses in Tamil Nadu. But no participation from Anna University will expectedly make the process difficult. The Directorate of Technical Education in Tamil Nadu formed the council to conduct general counselling for engineering aspirants from 2019-20 academic year.
Till now, the counselling for engineering students in government engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu was done by the engineering counselling panel of Anna University. The experts are concerned that no participation of the prestigious Anna University in the newly formed counselling panel will hamper transparency.
Initially, when the Tamil Nadu Engineering Courses selection Council was formed, the chair of the council president was given to the vice-chancellor of Anna University, M. K. Surappa. The complications started when Prof. Suraappa alleged that the Tamil Nadu State Government of Higher Education Secretary has appointed some member in the council without informing the existing member and higher authority of the council. This led to the resignation of M. K. Surappa and now, experts are not sure if Anna University will take part in the counselling process or not.
The software of online counselling which was conducted by the Tamil Nadu Engineering Courses selection Council belongs to Anna University which only added to the confusion.
This has also impacted the students who had just completed 10+2 and could not reach any decision for the situation that has been created in the Tamil Nadu Engineering Courses selection Council.
