Currently, the engineering graduates in India are looking for alternative career options other than the IT sector. The reason was the changes in the visa and employability rules due to shrinking career prospects in IT sector in the United States. The new policies adopted by the Trump government disappointed the aspirants who wish to pursue higher studies in US, and bag a job in IT firm.

Now, there is a change in the mindset of engineering graduates, and they are planning to take up higher studies in the countries like Canada or Australia. On the other hand, most of the engineering graduates are focusing on central and state government jobs rather than focusing on jobs in IT sector. Most of the engineering graduates are preparing for various competitive exams to secure jobs in railways, banking and civil services.

One of the fresh engineering graduates was of the opinion that career prospects in IT sector are not interesting, and he decided not to go to the US for pursuing Master’s degree. He shifted his focus to competitive examinations and is working hard to achieve a job in government sector.
K. Swetha, an engineering graduate said that she was interested in going to the US for pursuing Master's degree. However, she rolled back her decision, as the situation is unstable in the US right now. She decided to pursue Master’s at Lambton College, Canada.
At the same time, most of the students are aiming to secure a seat in premier institutes like NITs, IITs, IIMs etc., Students feel that they will have more chances of getting employed with attractive packages if they graduate from premier institutes.
