Engineering Students of Telangana Design Accident Location Detector
One can save the numbers of relatives, 108 emergency service, police service number 100 in the device. The device can be fixed in any vehicle, and it may incur around Rs. 10,000.
Third-year B.Tech students of Vaagdevi College of Engineering, Hanmakonda designed an Accident Location Detector which helps the road accident victims to receive medical assistance as early as possible. The students belong to the mechanical engineering branch of the college.
One of the students revealed that usually when an accident takes place, the passersby had to inform either a relative of the victim or the police which takes a lot of time. Therefore, an Accident Location Detector will send instant information to the persons concerned in case of road accident.

The detector has been designed by B. Raju, Ram Das, Mahesh, Revanth and Rehmat Ali. One among the students explained that as soon as the accident takes place, a mercury switch will get activated which will send distress signals. For this purpose, a GPS sensor has been fitted, in the equipment which will identify the location where the accident took place. Next, it sends information to the programming board followed by GSM module which will send the information to the numbers that are fed into the system.

Anyone can save the numbers of their relatives, emergency service, police service numbers in the device. The device can be fixed in any vehicle. The estimated cost of the detector is Rs. 10,000. The students have already filed the patent for the device. Vijay Pal Reddy, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Department, guided the students in designing the device. A mercury switch, GSM module, GPS sensor and mini controller board are the important components of this device.
