EPGP Programme at IIM Bangalore Witnesses Gender Ratio Improvement
IIM Bangalore sees a minor improvement in gender ratio with the inception of skill-based EPGP course from 27th March 2019. Students from various cultural and professional background have joined this course.
Indian Institute of Management - IIM Bangalore has been seeing high gender ratio contrast since its inception. This year, the Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) has seen a minor improvement in gender ratio. The administration says that 22.5% of women have taken admission in EPGP as compared to 77.5%males which is a slight high from the ratio of the previous year which was 21%. With this improved ratio, the number of male and female candidates in EPGP courses has become 62 and 18 in the current academic year which clearly shows there is a long way to go.
The Chairman of admissions and financial aid at IIM-Bangalore, Professor G. Sabarinathan informed that the increase from 21% to 22.5% took place at the time when there is an increase of 26% from 21% in international workforces, from 11% to 21% in PSU or government services, and 81% to 86% in engineering sectors. The financial and power sector also witnessed minor improvements around 6% to 12%.
The professors said that IIM Bangalore has students from a diverse cultural and linguistic background. Recently on 27th March 2019, IIM Bangalore launched its 1 year MBA program which saw the admission of 62 male candidates and 18 female candidates out of which, 13 are from the public sector, 61 from the private sector. There is also a student from NGO and one from the self-employed sector. Four government sector employees also joined the course in the beginning year.

The EPGP programme is designed keeping the focus on creating skill based high-position managerial people. The score ranks 49th in Financial Time (FT)’s global MBA Rankings in 2019.
