Experts are Designing Courses in AI, Robotics & GST for Maharashtra Colleges

Game graphic designers, computer hardware manufacturers, chartered accountants are collaborating with colleges and institutes across the country to design and develop new age courses in Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, and GST.

RA Podar College in Matunga is coming up with a 32-hour certificate course on Goods and Services Tax. The certificate course has been designed by the practising chartered accountants. This will equip students with in-depth knowledge of GST so that they can get related jobs.

Shobana Vasudevan, Principal, RA Podar College informed that the certificates will be awarded in the college’s name.

Similarly, Nirma University has partnered with Nvidia to launch courses on Artificial Intelligence. Nvidia is an American Technology company that designs and develops graphic processing units for gaming and AI. The course will be open to both engineering and non-engineering students.

The course has been launched under RUSA to help colleges of Maharashtra state offer placement-oriented modules. Apart from this, courses on cybersecurity, robotics and data analytics are also been designed by the experts from Nasscom’s Data Security Council of India and IIT Bombay.

Professor, Kavi Arya, IIT-Bombay, said that RUSA invited him to design a robotics course for engineering colleges in Maharashtra. The course is similar to Introduction to Robotics module at IIT-Bombay.

He further added that faculty development programmes are much more crucial as they will be dealing with a large number of teachers with different backgrounds.

Meanwhile, course designers will also help colleges in setting up the infrastructure as the robotics course will require a laboratory. A college will have to spend a minimum of Rs. 2 lakh on equipment and training four teachers in the respective field.
