A panel of top policymakers and educationists had come together to discuss few matters relating to attracting the best teachers and students from various parts of the world. Niti Aayog’s Chief Executive Officer, Amitabh Kant was among the top panellists who had come together on Wednesday to talk on the Study in India initiative of the Government.

A statement made by an official who had attended the discussion between the panellists said that they had been discussing on various topics and one such topic that had been raised was on how to attract Indian-origin teachers who have been employed abroad. Amitabh Kant and his team had offered an idea stating that a package needed to be created that would attract the best of teachers to the cause. Another area of discussion that had taken place at the event, the official added, was giving autonomy to the institutions who have been a part of the Study in India initiative in the areas of hiring foreign faculty.

A total of 70 best academicians had taken part in the three-day event which was organised by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development. Among them were reputed officials like K Kasturirangan, former chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), MS Ananth who is the chairman of National Testing Agency.

Study in India programme is an initiative that has been undertaken by the Government of India which focuses on providing education to aspiring students from across the globe in any one of the 150 educational institutes that offer the same. The main goal of the initiative is to be a gateway for those students who wish to pursue an education in Indian in any course that they wish. The initiative functions under the Ministry of Human Resource and Development. Through this initiative, they aim to make India as a preferred country of choice for international students to choose as a location of study.
