Facebook Collaborates with Asian College of Journalism
Facebook has partnered with the Asian College of Journalism to promote high integrity news in India. The association is a part of the Facebook Journalism Project.
Facebook has partnered with Chennai-based Asian College of Journalism (ACJ) to keep a check on the spread of fake news in the country and to ensure high-quality journalism. It is the first ever partnership of Facebook in the country. This initiative is a part of the Facebook Journalism Project that aims to develop high-quality journalism around the globe.
Campbell Brown, Global Head of News Partnerships said that the collaboration with ACJ will also focus on training future journalists. He further informed that Facebook has over 270 million users in India and this initiative is expected to train a large number of journalism students.

The scholarship programme is designed in such a way that five students of the ACJ institute will be able to choose four career specialisations from print, television, radio and new media.
Sashi Kumar, Chairperson, ACJ expressed his happiness regarding their association with Facebook Journalism Project. It will provide students with hands-on experience and the expertise in the respective field.
Meanwhile, Facebook has also extended its association with Mumbai-based BOOMLive. BOOMLive is a digital journalism platform through which it plans to encourage the systematic growth of fact-checking on all the social media platforms.

According to reports, Facebook will partner with such institutions and agencies to promote news literacy in India and to extend the same in local languages, newsrooms which will lead to building a more informed community.
