Fight against Cancer: IIT, IIM Students Help Raise Surgery Fund for Batch Mate
Nitesh is an entrepreneur who graduated from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and is currently studying at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta found out that he had developed a stage-3 cancerous tumor.
Fighting a terminal disease like cancer is not just next to impossible but is a painful experience altogether. However, Nitesh Prajapat, a resident of the desert state Rajasthan, is fighting all odds and dealing with his illness.
Nitesh is an entrepreneur who graduated from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and is currently studying at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. Not very long ago, he found out that he had developed a stage-3 cancerous tumor.
Although the news had left him shocked, Nitesh didn’t give up and decided to fight the disease with all his might.
Coming from a middle-class family it was next to impossible for him to gather the huge amount of money required for treatment. If it wasn’t for Ketto and his batch mates from IIT and IIM, Nitesh wouldn’t have been able to garner his treatment cost in such a short time.

Nitesh required Rs. 15,00,000 to 20,00,00 for his cancer treatment. Knowing that, an amount so huge cannot be gathered individually in a short span of time, Nitesh initiated a crowdfunding campaign through Ketto.
To everyone’s surprise, his batch mates from IIM Calcutta and ex-batch mates from IIT Kanpur barged in to help him raise the money for his treatment. In a time as less as 24 hours from when the campaign was launched, he reached the threshold that he required.
The campaign was started on Thursday, August 25 and by Friday, August 26 it had gathered Rs. 16,43,780 with the help of general donors.
Founder and CEO of Ketto, Varun Sheth said that this was the first time when the goal amount was raised within 24 hours from the launch of the campaign, making it the fastest campaign so far. He also informed that most of the contributors were batch mates of Nitesh from IIT and IIM.
The adamant Nitesh had not let Cancer dampen his soaring spirit. In the campaign, Nitesh had said that he is prepared to put up a fight against his disease without letting his studies get affected.
After he shared his condition through the campaign and asked for people’s help, messages from far and wide started pouring in wishing him good health and giving him strength and hope along with their generous contributions.

Gratified receiving the blessings, Nitesh thanked all his well-wishers and wrote, "As I go into surgery soon, I am now depending on your prayers and prayers of millions more.”
The funds collected by Ketto’s campaign will help Nitesh cover his hospital expenses, medicines and other necessary requirements. The details of his treatment will be regularly provided to the donors.
Ketto has extended its helping hand for Nitesh as cancer is a long battle and it takes time for the patient to recover.
