Final Exam Results for 1st, 2nd Year Announced by Delhi University

The Delhi University has declared the final exam results for first and second-year batches. The results have been delayed by a month. Results for some second-year subjects were announced last week by the university while the results of the remaining subjects and the first year results will most likely be declared this week.

The university has displayed the results on its official website. As per an official, around 50% of the second year result has been announced and the rest will be declared soon.

The results were delayed as the teachers of DU boycotted the evaluation process for all the three years on May 24 in a protest against the notification passed by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

The teachers protested against the notification as per which the posts for teachers at the university would have been reduced by 50% and the teachers stated the terms of promotion to be unreasonable.

The notification would have also increased the working hours of the assistant professors from 16 hours per week to 22 hours per week. As a result of this, a fewer number of teachers would have been required for every subject hence reducing the number of posts.

The teachers agree to evaluate the final year exam papers so that further career plans of the students were not interrupted. The boycott for the rest of the years was called off on July 18 by the Delhi University Teachers’ Association after the HRD Ministry and UGC decided to appoint a committee that will address their issues.

The university said that the evaluation is going to take time as DU is a huge university and the number of answer sheets that need to be evaluated is huge. A minimum of 162,000 students are enrolled with DU.
