The University of Delhi not only offers popular courses like Economics, English and Accounts but also many language courses- full time and part time both. Various foreign language courses offered by Delhi University is gaining popularity these days among students who wants to explore the intercultural nature of different disciplines.
Besides undergraduate, postgraduate, M.Phil and Ph.D. courses, the university also offers various part-time courses in Indian and Foreign languages. Specific departments have been allotted for the study of languages.

The Department of Slavonic and Finno-Ugrian Studies (SFUS) offers part-time courses in languages like Russian, Czech, Croatian, Bulgarian, Polish and Hungarian, the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies (GRS) offer part time certificate courses in Romanian and Portuguese. Also, the East Asian Studies department offers full-time courses in Korean, Japanese and Chinese.
The classes for German, French, Italian and Spanish courses, at all the three levels, are offered at various colleges at North and South Campus. One must be a student of a DU college to enroll in these courses.

Learning in specialized courses not only adds to academic qualifications but also helps in the corporate world. A person can become a translator or an interpreter.
Additionally, the University also offers various linguistic courses. Indian languages like Bengali, Urdu and Sanskrit followed by international languages like Persian, French and Arabic among others at the UG level. However, a cut- off system is followed for admission to these courses.
Master’s programmes are also offered by DU in French, Italian, German and Spanish.
