After Planning The Step in January, DU Officially Directs The Colleges for Forensic Check of Mark sheets
After the allegations of fake mark-sheet submitted by Ankiv Baisoya surfaced in DU, the university from this academic year has directed the colleges to conduct the forensic check and maintain some other set of security guidelines also.
At the beginning of the year, the University of Delhi planned to do the forensic checks of the Marksheet before granting admission from the current academic year. Trusted sources suggest that this step is being taken to prevent the cases like fake documents which surfaced up recently after the allegations on the DUSU president Ankiv Baisoya who submitted fake certificates at the time of admissions. The centralised university is also planning to roll out Smart Identity Cards for students.
An official of DU said that there was no uniform Identity Cards in the DU affiliated colleges as they have their own ID cards. The new smart identity cards will ensure uniformity and will look similar though the college name will be printed on them. The urge to issuing the smart IDs came as many colleges allegedly issued Identity Cards after six months of admissions.
The university will publish a list of approved agencies through which the colleges will have to conduct the forensic tests of the marksheets and documents submitted by the students.
For another cross-checking parameter, the University of Delhi has tied up with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The admission portal will ask the students if they have studied from CBSE or not. If yes, after the candidate furnishes his/her roll number, the site will automatically fetch the details from CBSE database which will give cross verification an extra leap for DU.

The documents of CBSE passouts which are around 80% in number will not be sent to forensic reports. The rest 20 per cent of people will have to submit their documents for forensic check and if found fraud, strict legal actions will be taken against the applicant. The police have already filed a case against the DUSU President for fake documents last year.

Infrared and UV light will be used by the forensic labs for checking the presence of hidden writing and fluorescent marking which is made on the documents. To search micro-lettering, the magnifying lens will be used along with a stereo-microscope for checking the quality and standardised thickness of the paper.
