The most popular American President Abraham Lincoln stated,” The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of the government in the next.” The statement is very much close to the truth and reflects the importance that the government should be giving to the education of its people. The central government’s decision to provide free wi-fi connectivity to all the central universities has come at the right time and with the right intention.
According to a PTI report, in a written reply to the Lok Sabha the Human Resource Development (HRD) minister Ms Smriti Irani said,” The two central universities, Allahabad University and North Eastern Hill University are already covered under Department of Electronics and Information Technology Programme.” The government has decided to implement the programme as early as possible. Ms Irani further stated that,” For the remaining 38 central universities, Project Approval Board of NMEICT in its 31st meeting has approved the proposal for providing Wi-fi at the cost of Rs. 335.85 crore.”
The minister on December 19th at a function organized at Kendriya Vidyalaya in East Delhi further announced that all CBSE books and learning material would be made available online and that too for free. According to her this is an effort by the government to promote good governance. She said that initiatives would be undertaken to ensure holistic nurturing and improve learning outcomes at these schools.
