FTII Makes Changes in the Syllabus
FTII announces addition of many courses to the curriculum. Gajendra Chauhan headed the meeting on 5 July'16. B.P Singh makes an action place for FTII's success.
The Film and Television Institute of India also known as FTII has announced the addition of many courses to the curriculum. On 5th July’ 16, a new syllabus or curriculum was approved by the Governing Council of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).
This change is made to make the institute a downright perfect institute of cinema, television and allied arts.
Gajendra Chauhan, FTII Chairman, BJP Member and Actor headed this meeting.
FTII is an Institute based in Pune and it will present the “Choice-Based Credit System” in the place of the current system which a system of annual assessment. The new change will also focus on the learning centric approach rather than the already existing teacher-centric approach.
The Academic Council of FTII, headed by the filmmaker and television producer B P Singh, had drawn up an action plan for broad-basing the course content.
The plan made by the academic council of FTII includes setting up of nine `schools’ under the patronage of FTII.
22 new courses are added which also include the following short-term courses:
- Make-up
- Prosthetics
- Music Composing
- Costume Design
- Animation and Gaming
While the following main subjects remain the same:
- Cinematography
- Sound Design
- Acting
- Editing
- Direction
The new syllabus will be introduced in this academic year only i.e. 2016 while the existing students will continue with the old syllabus or curriculum.
