FTII i.e. Film and Television Institute of Indiais finally opening its gates for new students. The institute did not accept applications for two years i.e. in the year 2014 and 2015 but for 2016 students can apply.
Last year, the decision of making Gajendra Chauhan the chairman of FTII brought a wave of emotions. Students protested for 139 days because they thought of it as a political move and not something which will benefit the institution.
The new batch will commence from 28th July’ 16 and the institute will ask the students to sign an affidavit which will make sure that they follow a general code of conduct. The institute thinks it will help them tame the students and they will not be swayed by their seniors.
All the agitation related to the Gajendra Chauhan matter ended formally in October last year. The film institute received more than 3,000 applications which are 30 percent more than the last time.
