GATE 2022 Not Postponed: SC Disposes Petition
The Supreme Court of India has announced its verdict on the GATE 2022 postponement petition filed by the candidates. GATE 2022 has not been postponed and the exams will take place on the 05th, 06th, 12th and 13th February.
The Supreme Court of India has announced its judgement regarding the GATE 2022 postponement a few minutes ago today. A bench comprising the CJI (Chief Justice of India) N V Ramana has read out the decision against the petition filed by Advocate Pallav Mongia on behalf of the students. The Supreme Court of India has announced a verdict in favour of IIT Kharagpur which means the GATE 2022 exam will be conducted as per the latest schedule, i.e on 5, 6, 12 and 13 February. Finally, after more than a month, clarity regarding whether or not this year's GATE exam will be conducted is available to the candidates and exam authorities.
Students were demanding the postponement of this year’s GATE exam due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases across the country. They have been campaigning on various social media platforms like Twitter against IIT Kharagpur’s decision to conduct the GATE 2022 exams on the 05th, 06th, 12th and 13th February. The petition seeking postponement of the GATE 2022 exam was filed on 02nd February and the SC agreed to hear the matter on an urgent basis.
