The GATE 2022 exam is scheduled to be conducted by IIT Kharagpur on the 05th, 06th, 12th and 13th February for students seeking admission into various postgraduate programmes offered at IITs, IISc and institutes of national repute. The GATE 2022 civil engineering exam will be conducted on 12th February in two shifts. The purpose of this piece is to provide the upcoming GATE exam candidates with the previous year’s GATE civil engineering difficulty level and topic-wise weightage. 

Last year, the GATE Civil Engineering exam was conducted on 06th January in two shifts. With the help of the previous year’s GATE civil engineering analysis of the difficulty level and topic-wise weightage, we will try to find out this year’s expected difficulty level and weightage each topic might receive. 

Previous Year GATE Civil Engineering Difficulty Level and Weightage

In this section, we will discuss the session-wise civil engineering difficulty level and weightage of the GATE examination conducted last year - 

GATE 2021 Civil Engineering Exam Analysis (Session 1)

  • The overall difficulty level of the GATE civil engineering exam last year was moderate

  • There were a total of 2 MSQ questions question paper

  • The question paper comprised of 15 NAT questions

  • Topics such as Geo-Tech, Environment and Transportation received maximum weightage

  • The Engineering Mathematics and General Aptitude sections comprised easy scoring questions

  • Candidates who attempted at least 40 questions fell into the “Good Attempt” category
