GATE ES Expected Qualifying Marks 2024: For general category candidates, the qualifying marks for GATE Environmental Science & Engineering (ES) for the general category were 27.7 marks in 2023 and 25.9 marks in 2022. Considering the total number of applicants to be around 9,000, it is expected that the GATE 2024 ES cutoff (general category) will fall between 27 to 28 marks while scaled qualifying scores may fall between 349 to 352 marks. Note that cutoff is indicative and might vary due to variable factors like the category of candidates, and overall candidates’ performance, among others.
In 2023, 6,051 candidates appeared for the GATE ES exam of 8,392 candidates. While the cutoff mark for the General category was 27.7, the lowest cutoff was 18.4 for the SC and ST categories.

In 2023, the average marks for candidates in GATE ES were 16.55 marks, whereas in 2022 they were 15.02 marks. As the registrations have increased this year, the competition in GATE still remains higher. Furthermore, qualifying GATE cut-off does not necessarily mean the candidate will get admission to an institute. It only indicates eligibility for appearing in the counselling process.
