GATE 2022 will be conducted on 03rd January 2022 and the conducting body officials have released the latest GATE exam pattern, marking scheme and the types of questions and their patterns, i.e MCQ, MSQ and NAT question patterns, on their official website.
IIT Kharagpur has released the official brochure for the GATE 2022 examination, and along with it, the GATE 2022 exam pattern. GATE 2022 Type of Questions
GATE 2022 question paper will have 3 types of questions and the features and marking scheme for each of these question types are discussed in this section -
GATE 2022 Multiple Choice Questions
These types of questions come with 4 answer options
Only 1 out of the given 4 options is the correct answer
The MCQ questions carry 1 or 2 marks
1/3rd is deducted for wrong answers for the 1 mark questions
2/3rd is deducted for wrong answers for the 2 mark questions
GATE 2022 Numerical Answer Type Questions
These types of questions include real or value numbers as their answer options
The test-takers have to answer questions provided with “up to which decimal places”
The test-takers can submit their responses using mouse
These types of questions do not come with options like Multiple Choice questions
No marks are deducted for wrong answers in the NAT questions
GATE 2022 Multiple Select Questions
The questions in this section will come with multiple correct answers
The test-takers have to identify and record all the right options for a question
No marks are deducted for wrong attempts in the MSQ questions
