Girls Outnumbered Boys in NEET 2016 Results

A larger number of girls have qualified NEET as compared to boys for admission to undergraduate medical courses, according to NEET results announced by CBSE on August 16.

A larger number of girls have qualified NEET as compared to boys for admission to undergraduate medical courses, according to NEET results announced by CBSE on August 16. However, the number of boys in the top 15% was more than girls. 11,058 males were recorded in the top 15% as compared to 8,266 female candidates.

A total number of candidates who cleared the exam were 4,09,477, out of which 2,26,049 were girls, 1,83,424 were boys and four candidates belonged to the transgender category. One of the transgender candidates was ranked amongst the top 15%. A total of 7,31,223 students appeared for the exam.

Het Shah emerged the topper of the exam with a score of 685 out of 720.

Counseling for admission to medical and dental colleges will be started soon. CBSE also stated that NEET-1 and NEET-2 have been successfully conducted in compliance with the orders of the Apex Court and all the issues were presented to the Oversight Committee that included former Chief Justice RM Lodha, Dr. SK Sarin and former CAG Vinod Rai.

The admission authorities will soon be declaring a merit list based on the rank secured by the students in the exam for MBBS and BDS seats. Based on the merit list, students can contact medical colleges for more information related to admissions.

26 candidates who were found involved in unfair practices in the examination have been debarred from appearing for the exam.

NEET answer keys were also announced by CBSE so that the candidates could verify and contest the result if there were any discrepancies.
