GITAM Deemed University Selected for Study in India Programme
- GITAM Deemed University in Andhra Pradesh has been selected to initiate Study in India programme.
- Students from Ghana, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, UK (United Kingdom), USA, Taiwan and Nepal have already registered for admissions at GITAM.
GITAM Deemed University, Andhra Pradesh is now among the 90 higher education institutes across the country that has been selected for the ‘Study in India’programme launched by the MHRD recently. The aim of the new programme is to attract international students so that they can take up higher studies in Indian institutes. Based on the NAAC grade and NIRF ranking of the institute, MHRD has selected GITAM to be a part of Study in India programme.
On June 22, 2018, Vice-Chancellor of GITAM interacted with the foreign students and parents during the admission process which was being conducted for different courses offered at the university. He further revealed that MHRD has granted autonomy status (graded autonomy) to GITAM. Now, the deemed university is free to enrol international students and tie up with top 500 universities across the world, he added.

GITAM University's Professor Prasada Rao further added that the inclusion of GITAM in Study in India is attracting international students to take up courses in the university and as of now students from Ghana, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, UK (United Kingdom), USA, Taiwan and Nepal have registered for admissions at GITAM, he highlighted.

Only three institutes including GITAM were given the approval to initiate Study in India programme in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Among the different cities in the state, Visakhapatnam is preferred by students coming from abroad for its culture, quality of education and food.
With a motive to look after the welfare of international students, GITAM has also set up a separate international office on the campus.
